SHIPPING LEADERS IN RESIDENCE: Lecture on the sea safety by the ship-generated pollution
Metropolitan College's Maritime Academy, located in Piraeus centre, had the honour to welcome Captain Dimitris Mitsatsos, Director General of HELMEPA for the lecture "To Save the Seas: a Greek 36-year-old maritime voluntary commitment". Captain Mitsatsos focused on the sea safety and the ship-generated pollution. During his speech, he proudly mentioned the pioneering voluntary commitment of Greek seafarers and ship owners to safeguard the seas. Using the moto "To Save the Seas", Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) supports actively and consistently its work over the last 36 years.
It is worth mentioning that, within the framework of "SHIPPING LEADERS IN RESIDENCE" institution, the School of Shipping and Maritime Studies of Metropolitan College hosts leading figures and prominent personalities of the shipping industry throughout the year, who share their long experience with the students and the general public. Hosted lectures concern a different subject each time, directly related to the shipping industry and the nautical reality, but also related to the latest developments, trends and challenges of the industry worldwide.
