Shipping Leaders in Residence: Lecture on Project Forward
Ιn the context of Shipping Leaders in Residence institution, Metropolitan College's Faculty of Shipping and Maritime Studies, organizes the lecture "Project Forward and the Getting to Zero Coalition" adressing to students of Shipping and Maritime studies, as well as professionals of the shipping industry.
The lecture will take place in Thursday January 16th, 19:00- 21:00, at Piraeus Campus lecture hall (110, Kolokotroni street). Metropolitan College will host Mr Antonis Trakakis, Technical Manager ARISTA Shipping.
During his speech, Mr Trakakis will present Forward Ships, a new type of vessel which enables the adoption of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the fuel of choice for ships at a global scale. Forward Ships has applied existing and tested technology to design a cargo ship that emits up to 35% less CO2, 80% less NOx, 99% less SOx, 99% less particulate matter (PM) than conventional ships, and that can produce up to 50% savings in fuel costs. Forward Ships is the result of Project Forward, a five-year R&D effort led by Arista Shipping.
