Description
The main objective of the undergraduate programme in Special Education, BA (Hons) Special Education, is the training and development of highly-skilled scientists and professional special educators. Special Education, as a discipline, refers to the study and integration of people with disabilities in the wider educational and social context. The programme of studies offers a broad knowledge of the education pedagogies, the child's education and social development and is addressed to those who wish to contribute to the field of Special Education. Within the framework of the programme, the practical implementation of Special Education is examined, under the light of the theoretical approach and the legal framework governing it. The programme helps students develop a reflective approach to Special Education, coupled with critical thinking, which they will need in their professional path, since they will be able to offer their services for the smooth integration of children with special abilities not only in society, but also in their education, through appropriate scientific training. During their studies, students come into contact with their future profession through lectures and seminars by experienced special educators as well as through the opportunity for internships and voluntary work in a wide network of co-operating settings, schools and special education institutions.
