The MSc Applied Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Metropolitan College, delivered in collaboration with Oxford Brookes University, is designed to develop highly skilled practitioners capable of applying advanced nutritional and physiological knowledge within sport, exercise, health, and performance environments.
The programme combines scientific theory with applied practice, enabling students to develop the professional, analytical, and research skills required to support athletes, physically active individuals, and health-focused populations. It integrates contemporary knowledge in sport nutrition, exercise physiology, metabolism, and performance science with practical laboratory experience and applied practitioner training.
Students gain hands-on experience in physiological and nutritional assessment techniques including body composition analysis, indirect calorimetry, blood lactate testing, VO₂max assessment, and athlete consultation skills. The curriculum combines scientific rigour with applied learning, preparing graduates to operate confidently within professional sport, private practice, health promotion, fitness, and research environments.
