Studying Journalism at Metropolitan College prepares students for a successful professional integration in the field of Journalism and Media. The BA in Media Production – Journalism is a unique programme by Greek standards, designed to fully cover the various aspects of the subject of Journalism both at an academic and a practical level.
The primary aim of the programme is to develop fully trained journalists equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue careers across both traditional and modern media platforms. The curriculum is designed to cover the full spectrum of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise required by contemporary journalism and media studies, at both academic and applied levels.
The course content places particular emphasis on Digital Media and the constantly evolving New Technologies that shape current trends in the media industry and are widely implemented across the job market. Students attend theoretical modules on Media and Communication, along with hands-on workshops that allow them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world journalism projects. These include news writing, article composition, broadcast journalism, production of TV features and magazine shows, as well as filming and editing, all carried out independently by students using their own equipment — a key requirement of today’s media landscape.
Graduates are equipped with the necessary tools to work in the fields of Communication and Media, as well as in consultancy firms, digital information management companies, broadcasting organisations, and online media outlets.
The BA in Media Production – Journalism also offers the opportunity of direct admission into the final year of study, following an assessment of relevant prior education or professional experience.
